DANIEL

Originally from Pabellón de Arteaga, a small town in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, Daniel began to play guitar at the age of ten, studying formally for two and a half years while in high school. All of his brothers and sisters are musical. Trios (and all mariachi) have been strong influences in his musical interpretations. To Daniel, playing guitar well and singing are equally important. His favorite occasion for playing music? "Any time, anywhere." If he couldn't be a musician, he'd have to work doing something he loves less. And his advice to young musicians? "Study, and prepare yourself well for life!"

Nació en Pabellón de Arteaga, un pueblo en el estado de Aguascalientes, México, Daniel empezó aprender a tocar la guitarra a la edad de diez años, estudiando la guitarra en la secundaria durante dos y medio años. Todos sus hermanos también son músicos. A Daniel le encanta la música de los tríos y todo el mariachi. Cree que tocar y cantar bien son iguales en importancia. Su mejor consejo a los músicos jóvenes es —Estudien y se preparen bien. Si no pudiera tocar música, Daniel trabajaría (con mucha tristeza) en otra cosa.

JOSE LUIS

José Luís, born into a musical family, is originally from Mexico City, Mexico. He began playing guitar at fifteen years of age, adding singing to his performances three years later. He became a member of Trío Mezcal, playing the requinto, a type of guitar specially conceived for this type of music. His musical interest was piqued by such classic trios as Trio Los Panchos, Los Dandys and Los Tres Ases, and he thinks the best occasion for music is "Any place, any time". His counsel to young musicians? "Don't take drugs... help to make the world better, and believe in God". If he couldn't be a musician? "I'd cry," he says.

Nació en la ciudad de México, D.F., José empezó a tocar la guitarra cuando tenía quince años y cantar a la edad de dieciocho. Sus padres cantaron también. A él le gusta la música de los tríos, especialmente Los Dandys, Los Tres Ases y Los Panchos, y piensa que tocar y cantar son iguales en importancia. Le gusta tocar música en cualquier ocasión, cualquier hora del día. Su mejor consejo a los músicos jóvenes sería --Que no hagan drogas y ayuden a que el mundo sea mejor y que crean en dios. Si una persona le preguntaría al José lo que haría si no pueda ser músico, le respondería — Lloraría...

MARIO

Mario was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.   All of his brothers are musicians, but he didn't begin to play a guitar until he was eighteen, while stationed at Castle Air Force Base in California. "I was the last in my family to pick up an instrument," he says. His formal education in guitar ended after only one semester. Key musical influences include Pedro Infante, José José and Javier Solis. Mario's advice to young musicians? "Sing from your heart". And what would happen if he couldn't play music? "I would have a great loneliness in my heart..."

Nació en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México, Mario comenzó a tocar la guitarra a los dieciocho años, mientras estaba sirviendo en el ejército de los EE.UU. Todos sus hermanos son músicos; Mario fue el último de su familia a tocar un instrumento. No tiene mucha educación formal de música, sólo un semestre. A él le gusta tocar música en cualquier momento, pero prefiere especialmente tocar en las noches, con luz de velas. Los cantantes quienes han sido de mucha influencia a Mario son Pedo Infante, José José y Javier Solís. Su mejor consejo a los músicos jóvenes sería — Canten del corazón. Y si él no pudiera ser músico, llevaría una soledad dentro de su corazón.
